Texas Hold’em is routinely called the “Cadillac” of poker due to its similarities to standard poker an enormous market. There’s a lot of money to be made in poker; but, it’s often misconstrued how easy it is to make money in poker. Most players think it’s easy to buy into a poker game; but, they’d flop on their faces. It’s not easy, actually, and it’s a lot harder than it looks.
Suppose you’re a new poker player. You enter a poker tournament at work or a friend’s house, or possibly one on the Internet. You buy into the tournament using your credit card. It costs you $ to endeavor to buy into the game using your credit card. At the start, there are five or six players on the poker table. You’ll face one of them. And, with nowhere to run, you will likely be taken out within the first twenty minutes.
If you buy into one of these poker tournaments using your credit card, the usual setup allows no more than two players to play at a time. In some of the cheaper ones, three or four players may enter. Smaller tournaments are usually called Sit & Go. Six or more players are usually set up as a tournament. Players accumulate chips as they win pots. Some casinos have limited chip prettements, so you don’t want a lot of loose chips in the beginning. In a certain kind of limited poker tournament called Super Cruise, a player can have an unlimited amount of chips.
Some casinos have event games during the tournament. Blackjack, roulette, craps, and baccarat tables are some of the alternatives. These are more elaborate pre-tournament casino games and usually have pre-planned betting rounds, with the potential for large prize pools.
If you win the tournament, your prize depends on the number of chips you possess. Usually, the casino will keep 100% of your winnings, and the player may choose to pocket the rest. The payouts vary largely from casino to casino.

If you win, you may be tried for a game commission, rather than the game. You can choose to either bet the tournament fee in the form of play money or pocket the fees.

You only want to do this if you have a hand better than a pair, or two pairs.
